Actually I think that we're talking about the original person here. I wasn't that sure myself
in the first place, because the Katakana used ( ギャルアッド ) can easily be romanized
as "Galhad", but being a diligent translator I went the extra mile and did some more extensive
checking.

is the Wikipedia entry for the first Manga series, Koukou Tekkenden Tough. And scrolling down the page,
looking for the exact name of the fighter who shows up in this chapter, we find this entry:
ギャルアッド・スワンパクティ（เกรียงอาจ สุวรรณภักดี）

While this doesn't give us the romanized version of his name, we got at least his name in Thai and now we
can search a little further, finding this entry in the Thai version of Wikipedia:

And here we finally get to see the official romanization of his name:

I guess that the translator of the chapters way back then didn't have access to the official
romanization (internet during the 90th wasn't as widespread as it is now) and just did what I'd
also have done and chose the most obvious choice of romanization, which
is in fact something like 'Galhad'.

So basically, I'd say we're actually seeing the very same person who defeated Kiichi in the first season of tough.

Actually this also makes sense in a visual way. From the way Legend M ist depicted, he looks about the same
age Kiichi is in the current storyline (in the orginal series, Suwanpakdee was only a few years older than Kiichi,
if I remember correctly).

However as lolo67 already pointed out - there is no real explanation so far how he might have recovered
from the grave injuries he suffered in his match against Garcia, but then again characters in the series of Tough
have been seen recovering from worse conditions.

Anyway, I'm sure the next chapter will shine a light on Legend M and tell us about his past, and whether your
assumptions might not be correct after all.

A good question, but it seems that this question is exactly what this new series is all about,
so we'll probably have to wait for quite a long time for the answer.

As you noticed, this chapter came with two promotional opening pages retelling the events of the
first two seasons of Tough. At the end of the second page the new series is referred though,
and the captions there translate as such:

"But, several years later......

Kiichi became the teacher of one of the most cruelest killers!?
He mercilessly crippled his opponent!?
He killed Kiryuu!?
What in all heavens happened to Miyazawa Kiichi during those
past years!?
Ryuusei and Seiko are trying to figure out that riddle!!"


So, it seems that while our questions won't be answered soon - we're obviously in for
another long ride with this primarily "gaiden" (i.e.: 'side story') apparently having evolved
into the official third season of "Tough".

Effectivement, plus nous avançons dans cette nouvelle série plus la confusion s'intensifie...Au point qu'on soit plus du tout certain d'une conclusion prochaine même si les péripéties et les combats s'enchaînent plus vite qu'auparavant.
Une chose est sûre, le revirement de Kibô est surprenant. Il n'a jamais été connu pour être quelqu'un de radical où d'impitoyable.
C'est pourquoi j'ai une théorie là dessus:
Il est possible que Kibô ait mené une vie de maître respectable suite à son combat contre Kakugo. Il aurait mis de côté l'aspect sombre de son art et s'est adouci.
A ce moment il est possible qu'un challenger sans pitié l'ai battu, profitant de cet état d'esprit. Cette défaite a pu s'accompagner d'un drame qui lui a causé un traumatisme profond.
Réalisant son impuissant, c'est un Kiichi fou de douleur, de rage et de frustration qui a décidé de retourner sur les sentiers de la guerre...bien décidé à ne plus perdre, quel qu'en soit le prix.

Si cette théorie s'avérait juste cela montrerait comment la nouvelle génération a sa pierre à apporter à l'édifice et comment Ryûsei pourra avec l'aide de Seiko ramener Kibô vers la lumière.

Well... in that case I'd also stay with my rather weird theory which I posted
some time ago, that Kiichi is not Kiichi anymore but Kiryuu!

The events so far still support my theory methinks XD XD --->

- Galhad was blinded by Kiichi one year ago of the current events.

- Wenbao received his injury from Kiichi during the past three years (it's called 'three years
killing' for a reason and he was close to suffering from the effects, so we can perfectly pinpoint the
time when he suffered the initial attack)

- Seiko himself said in Chapter 7 that he hadn't heard anything about Kiryuu for about three years.

- Kiichi taking Himeji under his tutelage is understandable - the little guy did nothing wrong but
actually tried to fight a much stronger opponent (taking Himejis age into account this also probably
means that the new series is at least 10 years in the future of the last chapter of Tough season 2)
and accordingly he still did it while he still was himself. The split between Kiichi and Himeji obviously
happened during the past three years.

Admittedly I'm still not seriously considering Tough venturing into such an esoteric area, but
so far the story somehow seems to hint at such methinks... >_<

Kiichi: Y'now Oton...

you actually kill him.


Pg.03:

Ryuusei: I... I am one who inherited the genes of the dragon.

Th... there is no way that I will give up any fight.

He he...

Audience: Ooh! Chin is laughing.


Pg.04:

Galhad: Muay Thai meens having to keep on laughing even in difficult
and painful times.

SFX: beep beep

Galhad: So I guess you want to tell me that my attacks weren't
effective, right.

Well, I appreciate that kind of fighting spirit!


Pg.05:

Ryuusei: W... wrong... that's not what I meant.


Pg.06:

Galhad: It seems you really cannot see anything.

Whereas I know your position and what you are about to do
as good as the palm of my hand.

Ryuusei: Guaah.

Galhad: After I lost my eyesight I immersed myself into relentless
training.

And the time, passion and effort I spent weren't for naught.


Pg.07:

Galhad: The result are these attacks.

Ryuusei: Wow... was that a real 'Udegoroshi' *) middle kick.

*) Translators note: 'Udegoroshi' means as much as "Arm annihilator".
As you probably guessed, it's used on any kind of technique that
aimes to disable the opponents arm.

Ryuusei: I... it seems that my shoulder got dislocated.

Audience: He knows when the attacks arrive. But without being able
to see, he cannot avoid them. How is he supposed to fight that way?

Oh my - Chin is laughing again.

Has he received so many hits that he's starting to go nuts?


Pg.08:

Ryuusei: Galhad is an amazing man...

But someone who brought down Miyazawa Kiichi must be
something special after all.

Each of his hits feels off the scale.

Everything hurts and my whole body feels like I'll kick the
bucket soon - so why I am still laughing?


Pg.09:

Ryuusei: Perhaps because I currently feel what it actually means
to be alive.

I never experienced this in my normal, everyday 'life'.

I want to live at full speed, not caring whether I live or die.

SFX: beep beep

Ryuusei: Huh?

SFX: BEEP BEEP

Ryuusei: Incoming...


Pg.10:

Galhad: I shall show you now the very hell I was forced to witness!

Ryuusei: Yes... it's the 'Cobra Sword'.


Pg.11:

Kiichi: It's true that I had a fight with Kiryuu.

Cannot really remember for what reason though.

Always had a short fuse, y'know.

Fight began just out of thin air.

But quite frankly speaking, I always had wished for that moment
from the bottom of my heart.


Pg.12:

Kiichi: For me, Kiryuu had always been a wall I needed to overcome.

Without slaying the dragon I never could have become a real man.


Pg.13:

Kiichi: You do understand that Oton, do you?

If you fight Kiryuu you cannot do it halfheartedly.

It's a battle of life or death.

And I survived! I am still here!


Pg.15:

Seiko: Kiichi...

You have changed!

Kiichi: Changed...?

I'd rather say I have evolved.

Super chapitre, sans doute l'un des plus importants depuis le début de ce spin off.
Finalement j'ai l'impression que Saruwatari a fini par réaliser ce qui le demangeait depuis un moment à savoir un Kiichi réellement sombre et rattrapé par ses démons.
Je ne sais pas pour vous mais plus ça va et plus je me dis que Kibô peut effectivement avoir basculé du côté obscur.
En effet, quand on y réfléchit Kiryu est parmi les 3 frères Miyazawa celui qui comprenait le mieux Kiichi puisqu'il partageait avec lui ce feu intérieur auquel il n'hésitait pas à laisser libre cours.
Contrairement à Seiko et Son'o, Kiryû n'a jamais poussé Kiichi à aller contre sa nature. Au contraire il l'a incité à la sublimer.
Kiryû voyait en Kibô son meilleur rival en devenir et Kiichi voyait Kiryû comme un sorte de modèle à surpasser.
Mais cette nature belliqueuse et compétitive ne pouvait qu'à un clash à terme entre oncle et neveu ( ce que les deux souhaitaient profondément du reste).
Pour toutes ses raisons je pense que le fait se tuer Kiryu a pu constituer un traumatisme pour Kiichi au point de le plonger dans un mental breakdown...

Quel chap, quel look et quelle classe!! Surpris que Saru nous malange les 2 happenings, c'est pas terrible pour le récit, mais encore une fois les images sont Canon, et on a qu'une envie: de lire la suite!

En tout cas Saruwatari nous a bien piégés avec les images de Kibô dans les chapitres précédents...Ces derniers traduisaient en fait l'image et les perception que les différents personnages avaient de Kibô plutôt que sa véritable apparence.
Le choc est d'autant plus grand quand on constate la réalité
Par contre l'écart entre le Kibô de la tin de TOUGH et Ryûsei est tellement abyssal qu'il faudra au moins 42 tomes pour combler l'écart... Un Kiichi avec le mental de Kiryû c'est clairement un type intouchable.

Concernant ce nouveau chapitre, curieux de savoir ce que Kiichi et Seiko se disent pour que ça parte aussi vite ( avec sa nouvelle coupe Kiichi me fait penser à l'un des 2 frères fêlé dans Shamo ... en plus fort ). La conclusion de ce petit échange, ne fait que confirmer ce que l'on savait déjà depuis leur affrontement de la seconde saison. Concernant leur niveau, un monde les sépare dorénavant.

Vivement la traduction d'andy3004.

Concernant Ryusei, il a bien hérité des gènes des Miyazawa, car c'est une véritable éponge, tout comme un certain Kiichi en son temps.

I don't care 'bout capital punishment either - when it's time
to kill, then do it.

Seiko: Kiichi... do you seriously mean what you just said?

Kiichi: Well, that's "NEO Miyazawa Kiichis" way of living, y'see.

Doesn't bother me whether ya consider that 'evil'.

After all me could never pretend always being the nice guy

Galhad: W... what the... Is this my 'Cobra Sword'?

Galhad: Wh... what was this?

Ryuusei: *) An evolved version of the 'Cobra Sword'. You might
call it 'New Cobra'.

*) Translators note: I'm not sure if these are Galhads or Ryuuseis
thoughts. The meaning of the sentence is the same, of course.


Pg.14:

Galhad: I was born in one of the poorest of the poor families.

To reduce the number of mouths to feed, they just dropped
me off at some Muay Thai gym.

At the gym they gave me something to eat.


Pg.15:

Galhad: They also made me enter school.

And when I won fights, I got money.

I could make my family happy.
