Yagi: Racoon Boy!
So it's his son
Ippo: Yagi-san, do you recall that name?
Yagi: He had an imposing image
Itagaki: Racoon Boy
Aoki: Araiguma Shounen (Japanese for Racoon Boy), huh?
Page 2
Itagaki: Something like this?
Yagi: NO!!
Aoki: We're wrong?
Kimura: Were you really imagining a panda?
Racoons are 4 legged
Yagi: NO NO NO
It means he can effectivley use both hands
Itagakimuraoki: both hand?
Ippo: He's a switch hitter
Page 3
Itagaki: A switch hitter?
Aoki: That sounds crazy
Yagi: At the time, we had no info on him.
But we were still convinced that Miyata-san could beat him.
It was his 7th OPBF title defense
(The coach looks more like Otowa)
He was a man that was close to the world stage
Aoki: He was close to a world title shot?
Kimura: So Miyata's old man was a stud, huh?
Itagaki: They are fellow counter masters
Between father and son, who'd you say was better?
Yagi: In my opinion
I don't thnk Ichiro-kun is as good as is father
Kimura: So he was better than the son, huh?
Page 4
Yagi: On that day, his counters were eaten
Though he was ahead on points leading up to the final round
A tragic thing just had to happen
And it silenced the crowd in the arena
And the only one who made any sound
Was Ichiro-kun crying
But Miyata-san
Couldn't answer his pleas
Page 5
Aoki: Some comeback KO he pulled off
Kimura: But the way always heard it, it was a lucky punch
Meaning that a clean hit came out no where hittin' the button
And he just got unlucky
Yagi: That's what I think
But after the match the head coach told us at that instant he aimed for a counter
He switched from southpaw to orthodox
Yagi: Meaning he was anticipating it
Itagaki and Aoki: The switch, huh?
Yagi: His jaw shattered
Along with his dream for the world
Page 6
Just like countless other fighters, Miyata-san secluded himself
And never made a comeback
Aoki: Man, what a sad story
Kimura; Gives me chills
Yagi: All he had left
Was Ichiro-kun
Miyata-kun: Yagi-san
Nobody comes to visit anymore
Yagi: Well, not just me. But the coach will come by later
Miyata: And even mom doesn't come anymore
Page 7
Miyata: Why?
Why wasn't she with me when I was most happy?
Yagi: With his shoulder small at the time shaking, he put all of his sadness and rage into his fists
I could never forget the look on Ichiro's face as well.
Aoki: I got it
Why Miyata
Page 8
Did not notice anything
Kimura: Don't say such a thing
Now I can see why Miyata called off the fight with Ippo clearly now
Itagaki: This is quite a background
Aoki: So he isn't ducking Ippo
Ippo: Yeah
I'm cool with it
Aokimura: Don't tell me, he's starting a comittee to make Miyata the bad guy
Ippo: Does such a thing exist?
Aokimura: By the way, we got something important to ask
Page 9
Can Miyata beat the son of
Racoon Boy
Didn't you seen the video?
How is he in action?
Ippo: He's good
Itagaki: Don't give us just your impression, be more elaborate
Did you see any weaknesses?
Page 10
Ippo: He's tough as both a southpaw and orthodox power
He's got power in both hands
Even if I had more things to elaborate on, you can't find a sparring partner like him
Kimura: You got a point
High level switch hitters are a rarity
Ippo: No doubt it's gonna be a fight for his life
Itagaki: It's really are for Senpai to doubt Miyata-san's chances of winning
Don't tell me we got one tough customer on our hands
Aoki: It'll be one bad like father like son KO loss
Kimura: Don't say things like that!!
Ippo: Please dont say that
Yagi; Things were different then
At that time
We didnt have any info on him
Page 12
Now that we know he's a switch hitter, chances of winning is much higher
So he ain't gonna get a switch hit counter landed on him
Kimura: You positive?
If he's right, he'll use a left. If he's left he'll throw a right
And throw a left prtending to be right?
Yagi; If so
No wait a second
It's harder than it looks
Countering looks hard
Page 13
Miyata: Southpaw, huh. His right hand being in front will be a disaster.
My left jabs won't work
Page 14
I'll throw my right
The theory behind defeating a southpaw
But what will happen
If he switches just like back then?
Then it'll be a wild right
Can't afford that
Child: Is it tough to be practicing until this late at night?
Miyata: Who are your parents?
You should hurry home and go to bed
Your parents are gonna worry
Page 13
I get it
You got no parents worrying about you
Kid: While my dream come true?
Miyata: I don't want to be disturbed
I don't think it's thankful to some childish dream
Aren' tyou a pro boxer?
How far are you?
Page 14
Miyata: I'm still aiming for my dream
I can't complain but it's hard
It's a harsh reality
Kid: Oh
Everybody from my life just went away
Things used to be great
But then things got lonley
How about mom ?
Has mom come back yet?
Didn't even leave a note
So since then and even now
Page 15
you're alone
Miyata: Don't look down
Yeah, so what if I am
Even on my own I can become strong
Enough to be
the world champion!
Page 16
Promise me you'll be the world champion!
Make sure I see it!
Becaise tjeres nothing wrong with my father's boxing style
That's a promise!
Hey!
Where you going
Where!?
Page 17
Where?
Did I walk a straight path here
A path I never strayed from
